Football fever never seems to die down in Goa. Even with the World Cup having just gotten over, football takes off on another adventure. The Vedanta Group’s SESA Football Academy or SFA has now been given the AIFF Accreditation. That means that SFA can now participate in the U13, U15 and the U18 Youth Leagues in the coming season.

The SESA Football Academy

The SFA was formed in 1999 for the purpose of developing football skills in Goa’s youth. Each batch undergoes an intensive 4-year residential program where they learn about all aspects of football along with receiving a formal education and skill development. SFA also has a strong leaning towards women empowerment. They’ve also trained over 150 football players at the residential campus in Sankhali, making a lasting impression on the football fraternity. These players have gone onto play for local clubs as well as different leagues in the country.

The Vedanta Group has long had the vision to become the best football academy in the country. The deadline for this vision is the year 2019. The academy hopes to teach its participants, skills in sports in technical and non-technical areas of development. In fact, just over a month ago, the SESA Football Academy felicitated its graduating members from the 2014-2018 batch.

The dream comes true for the SESA Football Academy

The AIFF Accreditation secured by the academy now means that footballers have even more avenues to showcase their skills. The SFA has been granted a chance for its participants to play in the U13, U15 and the U18 Youth Leagues in the coming football season.

Expressing his gratitude and happiness on the academy’s new recognition in the sporting arena, President, SESA Football Academy, Mr Annanya Agarwal said, “Sports can inspire and engage youth in a tremendous way and we at SFA envision to provide a platform to young budding footballers & equipping them with A-level facilities and achieving the milestone of being the best football academy in India by 2019. I am very pleased and grateful to receive the AIFF accreditation for the academy and look forward to seeing our U–13, U-15 and U-18 teams make SFA proud in the coming Youth leagues.’’

CEO, I – League, Mr. Sunando said, “Goa is a talent pool for the football community in India and SFA has been doing some great work to take the Goan legacy forward by grooming young budding football talent; it is good to see these players get such amazing guidance and facilities. I would like to congratulate SFA on receiving the AIFF accreditation and hope to see some good football from them in the coming Youth League.”

The future looks bright!

This accreditation will surely take the football world a long way. Football crazy youngsters looking to turn a dream into reality will get a chance to play in these leagues. The U-13 team would be created purely from the Vedanta Football Schools program, making it a 100% in-house grown team from the grassroots program. The U-15 team would be from the residential academy in Sankhali fully made up of Goan talent. While the U-18 team will continue to scout talent from Goa, as well as from across 7 different states in the country.
