A group of 19 monks from Nepal while on a visit to Goa held a prayer service in the memory of murdered Irish national, Danielle McLaughlin at Devbhag in Canacona.

The monks had left from Nepal in March and are on their way to Mundgod in Karnataka. They are to attend the inauguration of a new monestary there.

The monks have conducted a short prayer service on the spot where the body was found. They also prayed for the purification of the place since the body was found there.

“It was a short but powerful prayer service. It is believed that immense benefits come from the chanting,” said Leela Florino in a ToI report. She has accompanied the monks to Goa from Nepal. They will be performing a prayer service for McLaughlin’s soul on their return to Nepal.

Danielle McLaughlin was found murdered on March 14. It was learnt that McLaughlin was sexually assaulted before being murdered. History-sheeter Vikat Bhagat has been arrested in connection with her murder case.
