A car accident with a difference – Dr. risked her life to save snake

In what seemed to be an irrational car accident, Dr. Archana Naik, a resident of Duler, Mapusa, risked her own life to save a snake on the speeding Mapusa-Porvorim Highway.

While returning from Porvorim with her son Skand, Dr. Archana rammed her four-wheeler into a coconut tree off the Porvorim-Mapusa highway. The incident took place at 11.30 am on Tuesday, 5th September 2017. According to the Police, in an attempt to avoid running over the snake, the doctor risked her own life and rammed into the tree.

Sources say that Dr. Archana’s leg had been fractured while her son Skand sustained injuries. He was shifted to GMC Hospital. The lady doctor had to be rescued with the assistance of fire personnel as her feet were stuck in the smashed car. She was then sent to the nearby district hospital for emergency treatment. Later, she was shifted to Goa Medical College and Hospital.

Mapusa police rushed to the site and conducted the Panch Nama and further investigation is on.
