CATTLE ON THE ROADS OF GOA: STRAY OR AN EXCUSE?

Cattle like cows and buffaloes use the roads as a ‘REST-IN-PEACE’ place for themselves. Don’t they have their sheds to do so?

,cattle

  • They aren’t allowed to enter the fields at night as they could destroy the crops!
  • Owners have not built cow sheds or they have too many cattle and not enough room to accommodate all.
  • We do not know how much of this is true or fake.

HOW SELFISH CAN WE BE?

We talk about how the cattle are a menace at nights. They rest in the middle of the roads and do not move. No doubt it is creating havoc but, who has the brains to think? The cattle or we? Instead of being so ignorant why can’t we do something about it?

In the past, there have been many accidents caused due to this issue. The people spoke about how many deaths it has caused .Nobody spoke about how many cattle died or got seriously injured. We do nothing much about the injured cattle

CATTLE USED AS AN EXCUSE BY THE GREEDY OWNERS – ‘USE AND THROW’

But if any of these animals die on the roads due to accidents or are picked up by people, the owners come running to claim compensation. First of all the owners shouldn’t let their cattle go astray . They should build proper cow sheds to protect them and keep them safe. And not make money by letting them die and claiming compensation.

Consider both sides.

The government should keep a count of the number of cattle in the state along with its owner. Each cattle should have some kind of a recognition tag on it. So when found on roads, the person can file a complaint against the owner. This could result in the owner losing his cattle or paying a certain amount as fine.  We should really do something about it and not ignore it .
