GALGIBAGA BEACH

This picturesque little beach is almost completely isolated from the outside world. Lying near a small village from which it gets its name, this secluded stretch of sandy shoreline has not been encroached upon by commercial establishments. The village itself has its own rustic beauty. Nestled between the Galgibaga and Talpona rivers, it brings to mind the four century old Konkani fishermen’s huts.

Access to the village is restricted to a single narrow stretch of road. The beach can be accessed via wooden canoe operated by the locals. The lush strip of sand has only a few small eateries whose main function, as it were, is to merely remind one that the beach is not entirely uninhabited. There are no sports or hawkers to disturb the peace, leaving the visitor with nothing to do but take in the mesmerising beauty of the scene.
