One of the best cafés in town, it’s a much-loved place to get a great cup of coffee and catch up with friends. It’s Bakers Street and guess what? They just turned 7 yesterday, the 17th of May 2018.

Bakers Street

As you enter Bakers Street, your senses are overwhelmed with the goodies on display. There are cakes, pastries, sandwiches, rolls and wraps, each one worth a taste. It’s a perfect place to visit at any time of the day. Whether you stop in early in the morning or just want a quick bite for lunch or even dinner, there’s something delicious waiting for you to pick up.

Bakers Street is known to everyone. This cozy café is Gilroy D’Souza’s baby. His sheer hardwork and dedication created a place that everyone can relax and have some of the best pastries ever eaten.
When he started it, the café was a one-man show. Friends pitched in to help without question, knowing how stressful it was for Gilroy.

“I always wanted to start something of my own,” says Gilroy who completed his vocational training in bakery and confectionery at St Xavier’s Higher Secondary, Mapusa. He followed this with a food production and patisserie course at IHM and went through a grueling 9-month training at the Goa Marriott Resort. All this just made him more determined to succeed. “It was very tough. I used to do 12-hour shifts which sometimes even ran into 14-15 hours. But I learned and grew,” says Gilroy, adding, “That was when I realized that if I put in the same amount of work for myself, I was sure to succeed.”

All things mouthwatering at Bakers Street

7 years of hardwork and love for what he does has paid off. You cannot enter Bakers Street and ever leave disappointed. Every sweet and savory offering on display is completely irresistible. There are doughnuts of every kind – from chocolate and double chocolate to cinnamon, hazelnut, glazed, blueberry and even custard. Sandwiches, rolls, wraps, burgers, puffs, pastries and even cookies are on prominent display. Bakers Street’s red velvet cupcakes are absolutely to die for. But you need to hurry and get there as these are in such high demand that it doesn’t take long for them to disappear.

And we definitely cannot leave behind the masterpiece cakes that Gilroy and his team at Bakers Street craft. Each cake is carefully made and all taste divine. Birthdays, bachelor/bachelorette parties and even weddings, the Bakers Street team will create a cake that not only looks perfect but tastes amazing too.
