Leonora’s at Verna has become something of an institution for promoting Goan musicians and also Goan music and their dine-and-dance evenings are very popular with the crowd in south Goa. But don’t expect disco dancing or dandiya nights here; it’s more of the ballroom dancing thing. The UK-returned owners have dedicated their English-style pub to the British monarchy by naming it King’s Pub, and there is a prominently displayed photo of the owner with Prince Charles. The pub is completely English style with wood paneling and a huge wooden bar with all kinds of sporting memorabilia, English mugs and other English knick-knacks, posters, souvenirs. There are all kinds of premium wine and alcohol bottles on display. A barman serving you beer on tap behind the semi-circular bar completes the picture. To go with drinks, they offer some well done steaks, Fish ‘n’ Chips, English style but done with mackerels instead of cod, and many other dishes.
