Man with alleged voyeur fetish terrorizes building residents in Taleigão

With the amount of development going on in Goa, in the last few years, migrants have arrived in droves and set up homes here. And with that, the crime rate has also gone up. There are stories of crime in the local news media almost every day. Take today’s account in The Goan Everyday. The presence of an alleged voyeur in one of Taleigão’s posher buildings has left residents in fear. Of course, it remains to be seen if this intruder is a local or an outsider.

Residents say that this alleged voyeur has been at it since June

According to the article, no one has seen his face. Residents that have have been victims describe him as a dark-skinned intruder. They believe he has a voyeur fetish because he has broken into almost all the apartments in the building and gotten into the bedrooms as well.

The man is said to be almost nude, only wearing underwear, his body coated in oil. The building’s occupants have reported these break-ins usually occurring between 03:30 am and 04:00 am, from either the balcony or the kitchen. The last two occasions that there were intrusions, residents of the breached apartments attempted to catch him but he managed to escape out of the windows he had entered from.

All the victims reside at the Adwalkpalkar Horizon apartment complex on the Taleigão plateau. All have spoken to the authorities about their experiences and filed a complaint as well. They reported that nothing seemed to be robbed from their homes except for cash and women’s underwear. In both the recent incidents, the voyeur was found in the bedrooms of both apartments, closely watching the occupants sleep.

However, while the residents have lodged a complaint, the police have not yet filed an FIR. The reason, “nothing was robbed.”

This is not a recent occurrence. According to the residents, the voyeur has been visiting the building and breaking into the apartments in the ‘A’ block since June this year.

Residents narrated their experiences to the police

In the first incident is believed to have occurred on June 15. Two women living in apartment 501 woke up in the middle of the night and were horrified to find the man sleeping on the floor of their bedroom. They raised an alarm but he was swift in disappearing out the window.

The latest incident was reported over this weekend. A couple living in apartment 204, were shocked to discover the intruder in their bedroom, watching them sleep. The tried to chase him but he went out the hall window and disappeared.

In both incidents, this so-called voyeur was described as being dark, without any clothing except for underwear and covered in oil.

After raising awareness within the building block, the residents came to realize that almost every apartment had been broken into. This was evident in the presence of dirty oily footprints and fingerprints on the windows and floors. Apartment residents also reported an amount of INR 35000 in total, missing from their homes.

The security at the building is almost nil

Residents are now fearful and have even said so to the authorities. “It is important to note that he is only entering houses that have women living in them. It is extremely scary that this psycho/ pervert/ thief can easily break into the homes because of the terrible security in the building,” said the complaint from the building residents.

In addition to this, the complainants also say that there is no CCTV installed in the basement and common areas. According to them, even the entry to the building from the basement is not monitored.
