If you’re looking for an unusual lunch outing and want to sample authentic Goan food cooked in clay pots with masalas ground in old stone grinders, you should visit the idyllic farm located off the Panaji-Ponda highway, via Benastarim. Started in 1989, the owners mother Ms Shalan Shetye authentic recipes still prevail. You will be welcomed in true Goan style and served a refreshingly sweet, nectar-like Sol Kadi, a reddish-pink drink made from kokum fruit. It’s a good digestive and health drink. The set-price of lunch includes a walk around the spice plantation and a buffet-style lunch of rice, Fish Ooman in true Hindu Goan style, Fried Fish, Prawn Curry with vegetables and some veggies, all cooked in the traditional Goan way, with lots of coconut juices, oils and herbal extracts. The seating arrangement is alfresco and the ambience very green. This is where you can also taste and buy Goan Cashew Feni.
