But before you skip out to the closest pharmacy to buy a bunch of skin care products, here are a few home remedies that will take care of your skin and make you winter ready.

Youthful Yogurt

One of the most visible effects of winter on your skin is dullness. A combination of yogurt and buttermilk can help restore your glow thanks to its high content of zinc, calcium, vitamin B6, and other useful enzymes. These lighten the skin, while the buttermilk gently cleanses and soothes that awful itching.

What you need to do: Mix equal quantities of yogurt and buttermilk, and slather it all over your body. Wash it off after 15 to 20 minutes.

Petroleum Jelly

There’s a very good chance you have a huge tub of petroleum jelly lying around at home. Ask mom. If not, thankfully it’s very easily available and comes in tiny purse size tubs as well, so you can always have it on you. Petroleum jelly is an emollient and is extremely effective in restoring moisture to dry and chapped skin, lips, elbows, and heels.

What you need to do: Apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly to affected areas when needed. However, avoid using this remedy if you are prone to breakouts.

At just 50 Rupees a box, you have one of the best natural remedies to beat the winter. Strawberries are high in Vitamin C, which helps in relieving dryness. It’s also a great exfoliant!

What you need to do: Mash a couple of strawberries with a teaspoon each of fresh cream and honey. Apply it to your face (avoid the eyes and lips) and leave it on for about 10 minutes. Rinse it off with lukewarm water, and then splash cold water on your face to close your pores.
