Ever heard of such a beach in Goa? Not only is it breathtakingly beautiful but also mysterious. It is known as “Butterfly Beach” because the shape of the valley in which it is ensconced is similar to a butterfly.
Located between the Palolem and Agonda Beaches of South Goa, this beach is one of the most captivating places in all of Goa. A small but picturesque bay with deep water, golden sand and bounded on all sides by high rocks. This is a perfect place for complete privacy for those who want to escape from the crowded noisy cities and everyday routines. Sunbathing, swimming, relaxing… is the way to spend the day.
Surrounded on all sides by rocks, it is unapproachable by usual transportation from land. The only way to get there is by boat or a trek through rough terrain. It can be reached by Quad bikes as well.

Quad biking is an exciting way to travel for all the adrenaline junkies. The trip starts from a dirt road off the highway leading to the village of Agonda. It runs through the jungle. One of the fascinating experiences of the journey is that you will cross three rivers and scale three hills. The trip takes about an hour in one direction.

By boat the Butterfly Beach can be accessed either from Agonda or Palolem as it lies between. This trip is advisable only if you are a good swimmer as you may need to swim ashore for a little distance. If travelling by boat, then you are sure to spot Dolphins in the ocean close by.

The trek to Butterfly Beach also involves trudging through rough terrain. The distance is roughly 3.5 Kms. from Agonda.

Contemplating a trip? Well, you need to carry your own food and water. Plan an overnight camping trip at Butterfly Beach with bonfire and best friends. Don’t miss it for anything in the world.
