The Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) Amendment received President Pranab Mukerjee’s agreement.

Indian Institutes of Technology campus will be set up in the state shortly. The law has also brought the Indian School of Mines (ISM) under its range. The legislation said the ISM will now be called Indian Institute of Technology.

All these institutions are of national importance as per National Institutes of Technology, Science Education and Research (amendment) Act 2016.

Goa isn’t the only state to receive a nod of approval. Apart from Goa, five other states including Jammu, Tirupati, Kerala, Karnataka and Chhattisgarh will soon witness IITs set up in their states.
