Government restricts fish landing sites in Goa

In a move that may be inconvenient to the fishing industry in Goa, the state Government has decided to restrict the number of jetties and ramps used to offload the catch (Fish). The decision is being taken in favor of improving the coastal security of the state.

The list includes 28 notified sites across the state and has exempted the traditional catch (fish) landing sites in order to give respite to the fishermen of the state. This means offloading anywhere else other than the declared sites is banned. The measure is under taken to monitor the activity for security purposes.

After 26/11 Mumbai attacks the efforts have risen to boost the marine time security of the country, this move is a part of it.
