In a few hours from now, the Goa Marriott Resort & Spa will be abuzz with the latest season of India Beach Fashion Week (IBFW as it is also known) for 2017. Goa has always been known for it’s laidback and chill atmosphere as well as a prime party zone for people from all over the globe so it’s no surprise that the IBFW 2017 is set to roll out the fashion ramp here.
However, very few people know that the idea to bring the fashion community to Goa in a big way is the brainchild of Goa’s very own Pallav Ojha. The current CEO and co-founder of India Beach Fashion Week hails from the small village of Asnoda. He got his HSC education from St. Xaviers College in Mumbai and just knew that Mumbai was the place to be for his entry into the glamorous and glitzy world of fashion.

IBFW is working at providing development, exposure and a progressive direction for the destination fashion industry which is estimated to reach at $20 billion by the end of 2017.
IBFW welcomes members of the Indian and international fashion communities to come together in support of the fresh design talent to foster industry discussion and professional development.

This year’s line up of designers features a whole load of talent like Goa’s very own MapxencaRS, Nidhi Munim, LOVE GEN by Nandita Mahtani, Dolly Sidhwani and Bhavna Pandey, Rocky S to name just a few. The grand finale show will be by Vikram Phadnis on the last day of the event. You can check out all the designers here.

Launching something new in the fashion world
This season, there is a new product being launched at IBFW. A designer collective called COMO, named after the beautiful Lake Como, an upscale resort area in Northern Italy’s Lombardi region. Pallav says, “COMO will feature designer labels at affordable prices. We have roped in 50-100 designers whose work is going to be made available for that section of aspiring people who have not been able to find anything good to wear at an affordable price. We will have a healthy mix of veteran and budding designers, at various price points and multiple sizes on offer.”
According to Pallav, the first COMO store opens in Goa next month and will specialize in western evening wear and resort wear at the most affordable prices. The store is located in Campal, Panaji.
So let’s hope this dream becomes a reality and that we can all find something glamorous and glitzy to wear for a night out on the town!
