What started out as a small easygoing get together among a group of gentlemen soon became a planning session for what promises to be an annual event. The gathering included Mr.Peter Vaz, the head of Models Group of Companies, Mr. Victor Fernandes, CEO of Sporting Clube de Goa, Mr. Eddie Noronha, manager of the club, Mr. Norton Pereira, General Manager of Le Meridien Goa and Mr. Judah Fernandez, COO of Kodework. Mr. Vaz, along with the rest, came up with the idea of hosting the first ever Copa Bay 15 Corporate Cup. Keeping in with the spirit of the 2018 World Cup, the tournament was organized in just a day at Bay 15 in Odxel, Dona Paula.

Different companies and brands took part in this first-time tournament. The teams were from Models Construction, Sporting Clube de Goa, Le Meridien Goa, Jamboree, Kodework, and Ninestack as well as teams from the local news media such as Herald and Navhind Times. In all, 10 teams squared off against each other, making it an exciting evening for all those present. Each team was supposed to have certain specifications in terms of players like 1 senior member, 1 girl and so on but due to a limited number of players available, this was not possible.
The Copa Bay 15 Corporate Cup started at 5:30 pm and went on till about 11:30 pm. Ninestack went up against the team put up by the Navhind Times and won with a score of 3 – 1.
4 teams went up against each other in the semi-finals of the Copa Bay 15 Corporate Cup. Kodework played against Ninestack only to beat them 2 – 0. Both teams played well. Jamboree’s team of veteran football players gave the Le Meridien Cannons a run for their money and beat them 2 – 1.

It was an exciting final match between the veterans on Jamboree’s team and Kodework. The game was close but in the end, Kodework lost to Jamboree with a score of 3 – 1. Suraj Nath and Nicole Alvares from Kodework were awarded player of the tournament and girl player of the tournament respectively.
The entire tournament was such a success that Mr. Vaz said that they should hold it every year.

Interestingly enough, with football fever hitting everyone, the idea behind the Copa Bay 15 Corporate Cup was to create a buzz for the 2018 World Cup being held in Russia. Bay 15 is the official screening partner for this World Cup. It’s the place to watch all the matches and with Football Unlimited at Bay 15 there’s loads planned for everyone. A press conference was also held recently to unveil the month-long football carnival along with the brand new Bay 15 app.
The Bay 15 app is available on the Google Play Store as well as the App Store for IOS devices. You can use it to check the World Cup schedule, predict who will win each match and get points for your predictions. However, you would need to be at Bay 15 to use the app and take part in the contest. The app’s range is limited to Bay 15’s premises.
