A big part of Goa’s charm and culture is its music and tiatrs. Almost everyone living in Goa has attended concerts that showcase the Konkani music talent in the state. Similarly, people have watched tiatrs, musical plays that have themes usually dedicated to some kind of social issue or goings on in the world. It is an art form not found anywhere else in the world unless Goans are involved. And while some are written with a script that makes you laugh till you cry, others have more serious themes aimed at sending some kind of message to the public. Last month, Goa even celebrated World Tiatr Day where 12 veteran tiatrists were felicitated. And besides Konkani music and tiatrs, we even have Konkani films, the most popular still being Nachom-ia-Kumpasar. But come 27th May, a Konkani comedy film, O La La will be released, with a script that is bound to make you laugh hysterically.

A short summary about O La La

Produced by Nilesh Newalkar and Manisha Newalkar under the banner of Axis Vision, O La La follows a trio of middle-aged men who form an event company, named, O La La.  O La La has itself a rival event company called ‘Eventa de Goa’ owned by Robert. While O La La becomes a big success in just a year of operating, Robert’s company is not so successful and faces loss thanks to this. His misery is further compounded by his daughter Ruby’s insistence on dating Mac, a freelance photographer that Robert dislikes.

Things get further complicated when Ruby gets entangled with her father’s business rivals at O La La. Of course, this is so that she can use them to her advantage and get something out of them. However, things do not go as planned. Ruby gets herself into a messy situation with O La La. Following which, she and Robert decide to blackmail and threaten the O La La trio. Things are made worse when Mac refuses to side with her, choosing to back O La La and end his relationship with Ruby.

The whole mess then turns into a game with Mac and the O La La trio on one side and Ruby and Robert on the other. The circumstances and situations portrayed in the movie lead to some funny and emotional moments where the audience gets to have a good laugh. Suspense is also woven in, making the entire movie, a true piece of entertainment.

About the cast and crew

The movie is a mix of entertainment, comedy, drama, and suspense. With such a talented crew and star cast, it promises to take its viewers on a journey of humor and suspense. This is evident in the hilarious circumstances which make an appearance throughout the film.

Said Producer Nilesh Newalkar, “This movie O La La is a departure from my earlier film Nirmon which is a remake of the 1966 Konkani classic. We hope that the people of Goa and every Goan across the globe enjoy this film”.

Added Director Sripad R. A. Pai, “Goa has a great film culture. This comedy is a transition from serious Konkani cinema to commercial films and we are confident that this genre will work in Goa and will be a success. We have a star cast of talented Goan artists who have performed wonderfully in this film. The sole objective of this movie O La La is to entertain the viewers.”

Blasio Pinto, Sharmily Kashyap, Sanscarie and Siya Ghodge lent their voices to the film while the title track has been sung by Goa’s very own Hemaa Sardesai.
