The Mapusa Police will no longer have to operate out of the cramped space offered to them at the Fire and Emergency building in Mapusa where they have been guests for nearly three years. They now have an exclusive building of their own.

The Foundation stone for the project was laid in December 2013. The initial date of completion was March 2015. After avoiding deadlines for more than a year, the Mapusa Police Station was finally completed recently. According to Francis D’souza, Mapusa MLA and Dy. Chief Minister of Goa, the reasons for delay were because of habitually  issuing separate tenders for civil work, electrical work, furniture, beautification etc.  for one project. He also called for additional staff and two police inspectors to be deployed, one for Mapusa and one for the other areas.
