Martins’ is not the usual run of the mill multi cuisine affair. Casual, simplistic but still giving the elegance of fine dine, the restaurant is spirit level. The air conditioned part is down below, the terrace upstairs with a view of the gardens. The golden glow of soft lighting adds to the ambience. Two menu cards are offered to the diner…but before you begin there is a range of exotic cocktails on offer too. Take the case of the Ghost rider, you would have to ride up to the bar counter to imbibe on this flaming specialty that leaves wisps of ghostly blue flames as the spirit rides down the pyramid of glasses. Let’s talk starters and begin with the Mexican Chicken Skewers. The spiced chicken with pimento, onions, and tomatoes leaves a great taste lingering on the palate. Or move over to the Thai style BBQ Turkey…a definite recommendation.

The old favourite – Crumb Fried Prawns and cocktails; sauce is there to whet those tastebuds. Soup lovers move over to New Orleans for a different flavour – soup with Beer. Let’s go Mains. To Africa for the Mozambique Roasted Lamb! Well marinated the meat is soft, the flavours add to the feeling of well being. The place is well known for its steaks with 18 varities listed on the menu. We decide to try their Steak on Stone. There are 10 sauces and 10 accompaniments to choose from. It’s definitely recommended. The preparations listed on the menu (and the taste too) are unique, especially considering the price range. Desserts are not listed on the menu…but as per the chef’s creation. The Vodka infused Chocolate Panacotta is very well done indeed. For a small family diner, the owners have got their culinary concept right…they take you around the world leaving you wanting for more.
