Seafood restaurants are plenty in Goa. With most of them being beachside, the view tends to get a bit monotonous sometimes. But what if you could have the same experience a bit inland but still close to the water? That’s where one of Goa’s newer restaurants, the Lazy Goose in Nerul comes in.

The location

Nestled under the well-known Nerul bridge, on the way to Candolim, sits a pretty restaurant called the Lazy Goose Goa. While it used to be a well-known local joint, named Amigos, for fresh seafood, times have changed and so has the restaurant’s management. Now, as the brainchild of Chef Rohan D’Souza, a son of the soil, it’s one of the best and latest offerings to the Goan palate. With such great food and a truly gorgeous view, its no wonder the place is making waves.

About Chef Rohan D’Souza

It’s difficult to pick a starting point to talk about Chef Rohan D’Souza. A super talented chef, he has worked all over the world and brought some of the best cuisines to the palate and the plate. The Lazy Goose Goa

The restaurant is done up in cool, summery colors of blue and white with splashes of yellow here and there. Its ambiance makes you want to sit there forever. Set against the backwaters of Nerul, it’s charm is magnified. The restaurant is perfect for a group dinner like a birthday or even a ladies night out. Or you can just sit with that special someone on date night and treat yourself to some scrumptious food and great drinks.

Give your palate a taste of the divine

While the dishes at The Lazy Goose look deceptively simple, you can tell that a lot of love and hardwork goes into preparing them. The taste is exquisite. It leaves you wanting more. The Lazy Goose’s menu has a great seafood selection. Each of these is a masterpiece to look at and eat too.

Must try dishes include the Baked Baby Crabs(fresh crab meat that’s lightly spiced, baked and served to you in small crab shells), the Clams Steamed Asian Style served in a delicious broth of lemongrass, chill and coriander, and the Grilled Fish Fillet (ask for the catch of the day) which comes in a creamy clam sauce, accompanied by chorizo rice and a cauliflower mash.

The signature mud crab dishes are also a definite recommendation. And there’s something for the meat lovers as well as the those that adore their veggies. Of course, if one wants some classic seafood dishes, then try out the old time ones which are reminiscent of when the restaurant used to be known as Amigos. You will not be disappointed either way. Don’t forget about the great desserts too!

Drinking at The Lazy Goose Goa

Every meal must be accompanied by drinks. Whether a beer, a mocktail or even a cocktail. The Lazy Goose Goa serves up a variety of these from across the globe. Have a chilled beer or something non-alcoholic. No matter what you choose, you can’t go wrong with any of the available choices. The Cucumber Cooler and Kiwi Soda are a hit in the mocktail selection. The cocktail list has some interesting choices in the Boat Face, Beach Please, and the Bikini Blast among others. And for those that believe that more is better, The Lazy Goose Goa also serves up cocktails like Sangria in a fishbowl which is enough for 5 people to finish.

Entertainment

All great restaurants are popular because of their great food, drink, ambiance and of course, entertainment. The Lazy Goose Goa is no exception with some great acts performing throughout the week. They’ve got Music Fever, Haydn, Tammy and Roy and many more. Follow them on Facebook to find out when your favorites are playing some great tunes at the restaurant.
