Reliance Jio 4G users missing ‘WhatsApp’?

The Reliance 4-G feature handset has finally hit the market. What’s left to be seen is will the users get WhatsApp on their handsets?

According to  Jio Officials (Representatives of Reliance Jio),  the company is in touch with Whatsapp Inc to develop the app to enable Jio mobile users can also enjoy their favourite app on their Jio 4G cells.

Speaking to Financial Express, an Official at Jio stated, “As Jio Phone has no Google Play Store or Apple App Store, hence as of now, users are not able to use WhatsApp. Once WhatsApp designs and develops the messaging app for KaiOS (the operating system on which Jio Phone runs), users will be able to use WhatsApp on Jio Phone as well, ”

With unlimited data and free calling, Reliance’s delivery of 6 million Jio 4G mobile handsets began this Sunday, 24th September 2017.

Jio Phone comes with pre-loaded Jio apps for messaging and entertainment. The phone can be connected with television sets for watching live TV using the Jio TV app

Being sold for a song, @ Rs.1500/-, with a Rs.500 deposit up-front on pre-booking, refundable after 3 years when the customer returns the phone to the company. The final payment of Rs.1000 should be made at the time of delivery.

Laying to rest all speculation, Reliance Jio Chairman Mukesh Ambani had announced that voice calling for customers of Jio Phone would always be free and they would get unlimited data for a month against a payment of Rs 153.
