Summer. The one time of the year when parents usually have no idea what to do with their kids. Most likely because they are bored and constantly underfoot. After, not everyone can afford to travel to other holiday destinations in the summer. The good news is that some hotels and even schools offer summer camps and classes in activities that kids may not be able to participate in otherwise. Don Bosco’s has one every year starting in April which lasts for about a month. And if one wants to do something a little different, check out the 3-day summer camp being organized by Nature’s Nest in Tambdi Surla from 18th to 20th of May, 2018.
Nature’s Nest, Tambdi Surla is perfect for a summer camp or even a getaway
Nature’s Nest is far from the madding crowd, bordering the Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary. It’s a tranquil place, perfect for a getaway from the hustle and bustle of life. Nature’s Nest is situated at the foothills of the Western Ghats, which is home to one of the world’s hotspots of biological diversity. The Western Ghats have some rare species of birds, amphibians, and mammals. The lush green background is soothing to both the ears and eyes.
The brainchild of nature enthusiasts, Pankaj Lad, Sangam Patil and Ramesh Zarmekar, it is also a bird lovers paradise. These three enterprising gentlemen are interested in popularising the conservation of biodiversity in Goa and its protected areas. This is perfect also since Nature’s Nest is also the only birding lodge in Goa. It’s a great place to become one with nature. From encountering leopards on a jeep safari to spotting charming peacocks while trekking, one never knows what bird or animal might show up.
The greenery is best viewed during the monsoon but one can visit any time they feel like. If one can’t make it to the Dudhsagar waterfalls, there are two hidden ones that you can trek to from Nature’s Nest.
And, of course, there are more activities at Nature’s Nest. It’s packed full of exciting outdoor activities, such as rock climbing, rappelling, and flying fox. There is a natural spring pool to cool off when needed and a fish spa, where the fish gently nibble away at the dead skin.
The summer camp at Nature’s Nest in May

The food has tasty vegetarian as well as non-veg options accompanied by local Ukdem rice and bhakris made out of nachni or rice. Sol Kadi provides the perfect accompaniment to guzzle down, while a delicious red sheera is served for dessert.
The summer camp is going to be an action-packed one. There’s a jungle safari, nature walks and a visit to Sunset Point. Bird watching and understanding reptiles sessions are part of the activities.
