With an increase in crime, violence and security threats around the world, the Goa Government has decided to ‘pull up its socks’ by tightening the tourist security force in Goa. The Cabinet has decided to recruit security personnel to keep a check on illegal activities on beaches and other tourist spots in the state.

33 posts for tourist wardens, 6 for taluka supervisors and chief tourist security, all of whom will comprise of ex-servicemen. 19 tourist warden drivers, one upper division clerk and four lower division clerks all of whom will comprise of local civilians.

In the past the tourism department was unable to post tourist security force personnel at all tourist destinations due to the lack of staff and at times complaints were left unattended for the same reason. With the new recruits, the Government hopes to have its ‘eyes and ears’ in all tourist destinations, thus pegging the lapses in security experienced in the past.
