TTAG (Travel and Tourism Association of Goa) in an effort to increase viability of tourism related businesses in Goa has submitted a request for the tourism budget not to be increased for the next fiscal year. The proposal was submitted to the CM Laxmikant Parsekar, who is also the state’s Finance Minister.

Due to the tepid response the state has received from the foreign tourists, it has suggested a rethink of the strategy to attract more visitors (International). Mentioning the increased budget may burden the already burdened industry. One of the primary reasons for a poor response from the foreign tourists seems to be the decline in Russian economy. Russians made up a large part of the international tourist the state received.
