Everyone knows that Goa is a state with exceptionally high per capita incomes, literacy levels and education levels. Did you know that we’re now going to prove that we’re also very innovative and enterprising? Goa is very proud to announce that National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog has picked the Goa Institute of Management (GIM) as one of the 13 select institutions around the country, to receive a 10 crore Grant for setting up an Atal Incubation Centre (AIC) under the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM).

Don’t be surprised if Goa soon gives the world its very own version of a Mark Zuckerberg.

Well, perhaps the name might not be Mark Zuckerberg. A Mark Albuquerque, or Manguesh Madgaokar… is a more likely name for a Goan Entrepreneur. Or, to be fair to the other sex, considering the number of smart, educated and highly innovative women in Goa, we certainly have a very high probability of producing our very own version of a Goan Arianna Huffington.

Looking back you will notice that in Goa, we do have a history of giving the world famous personalities.
In the field of the arts, we gave the world Mario Miranda. Newton Souza, and Angelo da Fonseca.

In Architecture, we gave the world Charles Correa.

In the field of Science, Goa gave the world Gracia de Ortea.

In Literature we are proud of our own Dom Moraes, Frank Moraes, and Frank Simoes… and more

Even in the corporate world we have Francisco Dsouza (Cognizant technologies)

So is it any surprise that we’re now being recognised in the field of entrepreneurship too. Check out startupgoa.org and count the number of startups being established in the state. Remember the TEDx event we had here in January, and the Next Big Idea Contest, we held here in August? It all adds up. Goa is innovative, tech-savvy, and more than ready and eager to Innovate. Best wishes to Goa Institute of Management.

NITI Aayog received a total of 3648 applications from academic and non-academic institutions for the grant. Out of which 13 institutions were selected from across the country after a four-stage evaluation process. 12 academic institutions and one private firm have been selected for setting up of AICs. Goa Institute of Management (GIM) is one among the 12 academic institutions.
